Discussion
Based on the presentations of the first and second day, participants discussed concrete proposals for publishing-related exchange programs in East Asia. These included the selection of books representing East Asian cultural values, the development of "cultural maps" by editors in each region, and the exchange and training of editors. There followed an active discussion of the conference's future direction, including proposals for the establishment of project-specific committees and more active use of the EAPC Website for information exchange. Participants expressed agreement that it is time for EAPC to embark on substantive activities grounded in results achieved through the previous two conferences and in a shared recognition of the historical and cultural differences among regions and structural differences among publishing industries.
